Incoming 8th Grade Infomation

8th Grade Registration Information


8th grade HS Enrollment Process:


Enrollment is needed for current CUSD students so that they may select their freshman classes.  CUSD feeder schools will be visited by the Tesoro Guidance Department on the following dates: (Students only please)


  • Tuesday, February 13th, 2018- Las Flores Middle School
  • Wednesday, February 14th, 2018- Arroyo Vista Middle School
  • Thursday, February 15th 2018-Ladera Ranch Middle School

Parent Information:

All course selections must be made in the PARENT PORTAL by March 30th. 


There will be two informational meetings open to parents from the above schools only:

Tuesday, February 20th OR Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 at 6:00pm at Las Flores Middle School


New Student Enrollment for non CUSD students:

Incoming students from private or other non-CUSD school must schedule a one-on-one meeting with an academic advisor to enroll and select class for your student.  By appointment only-contact Tesoro Guidance Department at 949-234-5319


Appointments will be schedule ONLY during the week of April 30th to May 4th OR July 23rd to July 27th, 2018. 

Students new to the district are required to take an assessment for Math for placement purposes:

Registration Packet Pick-Up:  Packet includes registration (not enrollment) forms due EACH year for every student.  Please come  any of the below listed days to pick up a packet.  Students will return the packets during walk-through registration.   


Registration packet pick-up dates:

July 23rd, 2018 from 9:00am-12:00pm

July 24th, 2028 from 4:00pm-7:00pm

July 25th, 2018 from 9:00am-12:00pm


Walk Through Registration: (all students MUST attend Walk through registration.)

Freshman:  August 3rd, 2018

Make-up day: August 6th, 2018


9th Grade Parent Orientation:

Thursday, August 16th, 2018 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the Tesoro Gym


9th Grade STUDENT Orientation:  

Monday, August 20th, 2018 from 9:00am to 11:00am in the Tesoro Gym 


First Day OF School!  Tuesday, August 21st, 2018!!!


Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do Freshman have to take College and Career Planning and Health?

A: YES. Both course are high school graduation requirements at this time. Most students take those courses during their Freshman year. Health may also be taken in the summer.  Please contact the middle school advisor at your school to sign up. 


Q: Can I take Choir and Spanish my Freshman year?

A: YES. Freshman have room in their schedules to take two electives. In order to take two electives students must complete the CCP/Health requirement during summer school or other alternative methods. 


Q: How do middle school students sign up for summer school?

A: Each student needs to contact their middle school academic advisor. Middle school students can start to sign up on May 9th. CUSD summer school has a limited number of seats and middle school students will fill the remaining seats after the current high school students are signed up.  



Q: Do all students have to take PE?

A: YES. All Freshman must be enrolled in a PE class. The PE options are PE activities 9, Athletic sport, Marching Band, Dance, and Basketball. If a student is nationally ranked in an individual sport you can apply for Independent PE, CLICK HERE for the application and qualifications. 



Q: If I have a question who do I contact?

A: Contact your middle schools academic advisor. They have all of the information you will need to complete the transition process.
